The Third Annual Long Island Early Music Festival premieres with this concert featuring songs about amorous love from the Elizabethan period. This concert features songs from both male and female points of view on love by the period's most insightful, eloquent songwriters: Thomas Campion, Thomas Morley, Philip Rosseter, John Bartlet, Alfonso Ferrabosco, George Handford, and John Dowland.

Hofstra Collegium Musicum: Dive Thoughts, Down to My Soul

The Hofstra Collegium Musicum, directed by Dr. Christopher Morrongiello, is an organization of students, alumni, and community members devoted to the study and performance of early music. This concert features Renaissance and early Baroque songs that talk about, and address directly, one's inner thoughts. Works by Pierre Sandrin, John Dowland, Michael Cavendish, Thomas Campion, and Claudio Monteverdi.
Tickets: $10; students under 18, free with ID.
Lyracle: Voice and Viol

Experience the sonic landscape of voice and viola da gamba: the rich bass of the cello, the colorful harmonies of the lute, and the warmth of the mezzo-soprano voice. This program features the "greatest hits" of Italian and English songs of love, despair, and wit. Tickets available at the door or on Realm
Musical Splendors of Rome
Sunday, June 2, 4pm
Alexandra Calabro, Baroque violin; Ben Katz, harpsichord; Christopher Morrongiello, archlute, chitarrone, and Baroque guitar.
A program of instrumental masterpieces by composers who worked and resided in Rome during the Baroque era: Arcangelo Corelli, Girolamo Frescobaldi, Alessandro Scarlatti, and George Frederic Handel. The music will be played on period instruments at the low pitch commonly used in Rome's vibrant musical world during this time.
